Using the precision of a surgeon, Amose constructs his works with lines and strokes that dissect muscles – giants are tied in knots, contorted yet light, giving the illusion that they are in flight. The only human features of these enigmatic beings are the hands and feet. Their round, bewitching, black-outlined eyes are fixed with a questioning look, their faces like masks.
There are no rules to Amose’s work: androgynous forms evolve through radical change. Excessively large limbs may tangle and disappear, changing before our eyes.
The exhibiton ‘Mutorsion’ – a mixture of the two french words ‘muter’ (to mute) and ‘torsion’ (to twist) – marks the debut of Amose exhibiting with art is just a four letter word. The show ties up to his last solo show at Sergeant Paper in Paris, which was called ‘Anatomalie’ –  a mixture of ‘Anatomie’ (Anatomy) and ‘Anomalie’ (Anomaly). Both exhibitions are characterized by the human body. Amose takes parts of the human body and transforms them until they become abstract forms. It seems as if he is entering the human body and discloses what is hidden behind the skin.
