EGS’s works are inspired by his travels painting his name around the world and his strong interest in political history and geography, moreover in the formal and traditional fundaments of the culture “graffiti“ itself.
The “From Lake Geneva to the Finland Station“ exhibition includes EGS signature style map paintings, abstract typographic paintings and sculptures.
The title of the show refers to the train route taken by Lenin when he was smuggled by the Germans to Russia during the First World War, which was a pivotal event in the Russian Revolution. The famous line is written by Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys and appears on the song ”West End Girls” from 1986. The lyric was moreover inspired by the book “To the Finland Station“ by Edmund Wilson, a famous work about the history of revolutionary thoughts and socialism.
