The striving for typographic perfection led to a shift of his work from wall to canvas, as this increased the temporal scope to paint them. In the public space it is very difficult to work on a piece for several days. Next to the aspect of time working in the studio incidentally introduced another advantage: here, Mason could increase the limited range of colours offered in spray cans via acrylics by as many nuances as he liked.
Up to now, his most elaborate piece of art, Black Plastic, took him two weeks of concentrated work and contains more than 20 colour gradations. The making of such complex compositions always starts with a freehand sketch optimised on the computer. Colour is added to the canvas by means of spray can and brush, but only within the frame given by templates and tapes. Even if the result may appear like a print and the individual style of paint application fades from the spotlight each work is unique.
Between 1996 and 2003 Mason published own books dealing with graffiti and came out with six editions of an own graffiti magazine since 1999.
