Humorous, sarcastic, and often sneering, the works of Robert Matzke reflect ordinary everyday situations and their own experiences. Sometimes they are encoded, sometimes metaphoric, sometimes as a simple joke – whimsical or even grotesque they almost always appear. Whoever looks closely, vaguely imagines the artist’s graffiti background, which, however, today affiliates himself more with Lowbrow Art and Popsurrealism. Stylistically often sharply, the techniques and materials flow into one another in Robert Matzke’s works and convey an unfinished, raw impression. Not infrequently, the compositions appear as random – snapshots without a camera, the fleeting moment on the track.
